  • A restaurant is only ever as good as the people who choose to build it each day. We hope to create a workplace where professionalism is expected, curiosity is encouraged, and hospitality becomes a craft worth spending a career pursuing.

We have a culture of humility and respect for the ingredient, for the guest, and for one another. We work with intention rather than urgency for its own sake. We ask questions. We communicate early. We support our teammates before we're asked. We believe consistency is not the opposite of creativity, but the foundation that allows it to flourish.

Whether you're in the kitchen or on the dining room floor, every role contributes to the same experience.

  • The best restaurants are learning environments. Every service offers an opportunity to refine technique, strengthen judgment, and deepen your understanding of hospitality. We invest in training because mastery is built over time, through repetition, thoughtful feedback, and a willingness to keep improving.

Experience is valued, but mindset matters more. We'd rather work with someone who is curious and eager to learn than someone who believes they already know everything.

We encourage longevity in your career in UMAMI and hope this is a space where you can grow in your role, expand your contributions, and build professional community.

  • Hospitality begins with the belief that every person deserves to feel genuinely welcomed, respected, and cared for. That principle extends not only to our guests, but to every member of our team. We are committed to building a workplace where people of different backgrounds, identities, experiences, cultures, ages, abilities, and perspectives can contribute meaningfully and grow professionally. We believe diverse teams create stronger ideas, better hospitality, and a richer dining experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

As an Indigenous-owned business on Six Nations, our roots are deeply connected to community. We honour that responsibility by fostering a culture of mutual respect, curiosity, and kindness. Every team member is valued for both their individuality and their contribution to something larger than themselves. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to providing an inclusive, accessible hiring process. If you require accommodations at any stage of recruitment or employment, we encourage you to let us know so we can support you appropriately.

UMAMI was created to become a gathering place for Six Nations and the surrounding communities — a restaurant that encourages people to stay, celebrate, and return, while welcoming new visitors to experience what makes this place special. That purpose shapes the way we cook, serve, and work together every day.

We're looking for someone who is dependable, works quickly and efficiently, and takes pride in supporting the entire team. Kitchen experience is welcomed but not required.

Preferred requirements: Beverage management or sommelier experience in an elevated restaurant.

  • Our servers guide guests through the dining experience with confidence, warmth, and attention to detail. This role requires a deep understanding of our menu, thoughtful recommendations, and the ability to anticipate guests' needs while maintaining the pace of service. We're looking for professionals who view hospitality as a craft and take pride in creating memorable experiences.

Preferred requirements: Previous serving experience in an upscale restaurant is an asset.

Build something worth returning to.

At UMAMI, we believe people remember more than a meal. They remember how they were welcomed, how a dish arrived at the table, the rhythm of service, and the feeling of having been genuinely cared for. Those experiences are created through thousands of small decisions, made by people who take pride in their work. A carefully prepared station. A perfectly seasoned broth. A thoughtfully timed recommendation. A dining room reset before the next guests arrive. Hospitality — the creation of joyful dining — lives in these little moments.

We're curating a restaurant where those details matter, and we invite you to consider being a part of what we are building.
